In times of organizational change, it can be easy to get frazzled and overwhelmed and let your emotions hijack logic. When organizations roll out sudden changes, people may start to feel threatened, insecure and fearful. These emotions cause impaired judgement. Regardless of age or intelligence, we all succumb to unexplainable, irrational behaviour once in a while. There's no need to be embarrassed if you've found yourself in such a position before.
All you have to do is recognize and acknowledge your fear,
Ask yourself these 3 questions in order:
Why am I bothered by this change?
What do I think will happen as a result of this change?
Are these thoughts accurate and realistic?
Going through these questions can help you determine if the change is really something worth worrying about, or if your mind is just a little scrambled and overloaded by the change taking place. This little 3 step exercise can serve as a reminder to always be mindful of your own thoughts and emotions so that it doesn't get the better of you and cause negative consequences.
